Spring-Summer 2025 has arrived loaded with hues and contrasts that not only dress the runways, but also our creative palettes. As a print designer, I can't help but look beyond color alone: I look at how it translates into patterns, textures, unexpected combinations and the visual narrative each hue brings to a collection.

Mid-Year Review: what color is telling us so far

At this point in the year, we can take a little pause to review what is really happening in the creative arena. While the forecasts were for a season of warm, sophisticated tones and organic references, the reality is proving to be even more interesting.

The Color of the Year 2025, Mocha Moussehas become more versatile than many expected. This neutral tone, somewhere between soft brown and chocolate taupe, has become a wild card for proposals that seek calm, timelessness and a more tactile air.

Mocha Mousse continues to be one of the most prominent spring-summer 2025 color trends.

We are seeing it both in patterned backgrounds and in color blocks that contrast with more vibrant tones. In textile design, Mocha Mousse is working especially well paired with burnt oranges, dusty pinks and moss greens.

In my studio, I am using it as a base to give prominence to organic and floral motifs, and also as a visual bridge between riskier colors. It is a color that balances everything without taking away personality.

Palettes that are shining this season

What's inspiring me the most this year is how brands are reinterpreting spring-summer classics. Some of the key color trends we are seeing:

Off-white and cream shadesThis year whites are not pure; they have buttery, creamy, slightly grayish shades. Perfect for backgrounds in minimalist or textured prints.  

Cakes with characterFar from cloying, this year's pastel shades are powdery, sophisticated and mixed with darker neutrals. Lilac-gray, glacier blue and eucalyptus green are among the favorites. 

Renewed earth tonesBrowns are still in vogue, but with more pink or orange undertones. They work especially well in nature or botanical inspired patterns. 

Bold color blockingThe trend for vibrant blocks of color that break with the softness of the rest of the palette is still strong. Acid yellows, fuchsias and electric greens appear in unexpected combinations. 

What to Expect for the Second Half of 2025?

Everything points to the fact that neutral tones will continue to gain prominence, but with a more experimental twist. We will see more play between textures, gradients and transparencies that will allow the color of the year to evolve in new directions.

In addition, there is a growing interest in the mineral and aquatic tones -think deep blues, grayish greens and soft metallic touches- that could become the prelude to fall. More emotional and sensory palettes are also making inroads, with colors that evoke well-being, introspection or a desire to connect with the essential. And that, for those of us who create prints, is pure gold.

In short...

This season has been a chromatic journey rich in nuances. The use of color has become more conscious, more tactile and emotional. And from the world of pattern design, that translates into more organic patterns, soft overlays and contrasts that tell stories.

I will continue to explore these trends from my studio, creating prints that connect with this new aesthetic sensibility. Because in the end, color is not just something we see, but something we feel.
